Osteoporosis Prevention

These are some of the most important things you can do to reduce your risk of osteoporosis:

Diet:
The old adage is true – we are what we eat! Your bones need Calcium and Vitamin D to stay strong and healthy. These two elements work together: Calcium aids in building bone mass, and vitamin D helps your body absorb the calcium. The best way to get these nutrients is through your diet, but you may need to add calcium supplements and multivitamins.

Exercise:
Do at least 30 minutes of weight-bearing exercise three times a week. Weight-bearing exercises include a game of tennis, an aerobics class, weight training, or simply walking! Exercise helps keep your bones strong.

Testing:
A Bone Mineral Density Test can determine the density of your bones. Click here to learn more.
